Notes on EGG Method

Except for Black Miao, all EGG recordings were made using a Glottal Enterprises 2 channel EG-2 electroglottograph, with a 40 Hz cut-off frequency. The Black Miao EGG recordings used the newer model from Glottal Enterprises, the EG-2-PCX2, with a 20Hz cut-off frequency.

The EGG recordings for Hmong and Gujarati were made using an XAudio A/D box, which preserves the signal down to DC. The other languages were recorded directly into a laptop stereo sound card which does not. Some of these laptop recordings had reversed polarity, which has been corrected in the EGG files posted here.
